If you came here after the Philly Trans Wellness workshop about grief…

Wow. I have to say, y’all made my little nonbinary heart sing today. Thanks for being such active participants through chat, thanks to the great facilitators M and Y (I didn’t write down the spellings of your names, so sorry) and for just being PRESENT. So I’m linking a few things below:

The notes from the session, divided by what topic folks were responding to. I took out all info that could possibly identify anyone (eg if you named your job I took that out) while trying to keep all the valuable thoughts, tips and contributions intact.

This is the powerpoint from today.

If you want me to email you when we put together the trans grief ritual, add your email address here. The email list will be ONLY for this specific project, and it’ll just be a few emails when we make it happen, maybe at PTWC next year, maybe before that online.

If you want to keep up on what I’m up to in general, you can follow me on social media:

youtube & twitter & Instagram. If you need a laugh, youtube is the place to go, I’ve been working on stop motion animations of my um. misadventures, like White Water Rafting While Genderqueer

If you’re looking for other resources, I have a bunch of healthcare-related zines, coloring sheets on my free resources page. And if you don’t see what you need, email me at kellidunham@gmail.com or text me at 215.964.1963. Oh and also, if you need help learning to ask for help (that’s kind of meta, isn’t it?) I put up some resources on this topic here.

OH ALSO, I’M A TRAUMA INFORMED COMEDIAN. Want me to come to your college? A full PDF to convince the rest of the folks at the LGBT center that I’m awesome can be found…

RESOURCES ON ACCEPTING HELP….

Did you come here after Kelli’s workshop on The Fine Art of Asking For And Accepting Help?

Here are the resources Kelli referenced-

Kelli’s zine You Don’t Have To Love Your Body To Take Care Of It includes a lot of info about asking for help/assistance in health care situations.

Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha’s account of Creating Collective Access at the AMC in Detroit. A really beautiful example of mutual aid in action, and a reminder that nondisabled folks are building their mutual aid on the work that’s been done by other groups (folks with disabilities, poor communities and communities of color) for generations.

Dean Spade writing about mutual aid (really academic but has some great history) and a practical guide from AOC’s office.

If you’re struggling with asking for help, sometimes 12 step programs such as Codependent’s Anonymous, Al-Anon and ACOA can be helpful. Sometimes. They often include a whole lotta God talk which doesn’t suit everyone and some folks find the framework too rigid for their taste. But if you need support to start prioritizing your own needs, a meeting might not hurt. Most local groups host their own online meetings but there’s also a bunch hosted here.
